Joel is a leukemia survivor, thanks to a bone marrow transplant from his beloved sister. Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2013, he and his family would be strained physically, financially, and emotionally on their journey for recovery.
His life was changed, but his passion for radio and to better the lives of those around him wasn't dampened. From his journey, Joel’s Kids Foundation--a charitable organization dedicated to providing education, advocacy and resources to children and families affected by leukemia--was founded July 2013.
Joel’s Kids Foundation was, from the start, more than a simple community service idea formed as a way to give back; it was the silver lining that Joel found during his own journey with the disease.
Joel is also active in his community as a strong advocate for various issues, giving back to the community through his work with nonprofit organizations. Most notably, he has served as the host for Domestic Violence Against Women at the 2006 Midsouth Black Expo, and as the Media Sponsor for the Sickle-A-Cell Support Services in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A sought after orator, Joel is available for speaking engagements and consultations. He can be reached by phone at
